About the Afreximbank Internship Program

The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) Internship Program aims to equip university students with the knowledge and experience required to understand and contribute to Africa’s trade and economic growth.

Interns actively engage in projects that strengthen the Bank’s mission to facilitate, finance, and promote intra- and extra-African trade.

Participants will gain valuable insight into African finance, trade policy, and economic development, while also contributing innovative ideas to real-world challenges.

The internship is available twice yearly, starting in January and June, and lasts up to six months.

 

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Afreximbank Internship Program 2026, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a full-time student enrolled in a recognized university.
  • Be pursuing studies in economics, finance, business, law, engineering, or other related fields.
  • Be between 20 and 32 years old during the year of application.
  • Be fluent in English or French (knowledge of both is an advantage).
  • Be a citizen of an Afreximbank member country, an African in the diaspora, or a non-African who demonstrates a clear commitment to Africa’s development.
  • Must not be a child of Afreximbank staff or management personnel.
