The winner of the Sanger Prize Competition will be awarded a three-month all-expenses-paid internship at the Wellcome Sanger Institute in Cambridge, UK.
We tackle some of the most difficult challenges in genomic research.
This demands science at scale; a visionary and creative approach to research that pushes the boundaries of our understanding in ever new and exciting ways.

Criterias for The 2026 Sanger Prize Competition
- Be from and currently studying an undergraduate degree in a low or middle-income country.
- Be studying an undergraduate degree with a genomics element (e.g., biological sciences, bioinformatics, medicine, veterinary science) at the time of the first stage application.
- Applicants who have completed their course but are awaiting graduation are eligible.
- Language Proficiency: No official certificate is required.
- Be over 18 years old at the time of application.
